This paper illustrates how digitalization, enabled by a strong collaboration between quality, production and process teams of steelmakers and a steel digital‑solution provider, can substantially enhance the performance of steel processing plants.
Eyeron®, an intelligent quality‑management system, and SmartLine™, a fully automated predictive control system, were recently deployed at major Italian steelmakers. Their implementation has delivered significant operational gains and cost reductions, including higher quality yield, lower downgrading, scrap and claims, improved maintenance efficiency, reductions in raw material and energy consumption, decreased emissions, and increased overall productivity.
